Have you been “wronged” and you feel like you have the right to be angry, hurt, upset…? Did your tone of voice or response offend someone today?
Is it our place to make sure the other person knows that they have wronged us? Do you feel like you have the right to talk about someone when you find out they have spoken ill of you?
It’s very easy to allow our emotions, our feelings, our past hurts and woundings to cause us to “react” and feel like we deserve to “speak our opinion”.
When He is Lord of all, we are to be Christ-like at all times and allow Him to take care of the wrongs and hurts that have been done to us.
Ephesians 4:31,32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as in Christ, God forgave you. It can be very difficult to follow this command, especially when we have been wronged and has caused us severe pain. Here in the south, it’s easy to get caught up in our hurts and tear someone to pieces with our words, but then add that sweet saying to the end…”bless her heart”. We just murdered her with our words but made it ok by “blessing” her?? There should not be any form of slander (speech injuries to another’s name) come out of our mouths, no matter what, EVER. It’s very easy to justify our actions, because after all, they deserved it right? Did Jesus deserve the brutal beating and dying on the cross for you? We weren’t even born yet and He got something He didn’t deserve. We are forgiven because of His suffering. So even in our suffering and pain, we need to forgive and move on.
His word promises that He will take care of His righteous. Psalm 37:28 says, “He loves justice and He will not forsake His saints. He even says. “vengeance is mine, I will repay” in Romans 12:19. When we can be Christ-like in all things, walk out forgiveness, and bring forth good fruit, He will show Himself faithful and reward you.
