What’s happening at River’s Edge Church?
Several months ago I/Pastor David submitted to what I had heard the Lord trying to say to me for some time. My wife and I are a blended family with six children in total, four of which are mine. We both have been pastoring River’s Edge Church since our planting it in 2009 upon our return from Kenya and recent marriage to each other.
I was doing everything “humanly” possible to grow the church. I say “humanly” and that is a very important and key factor. I believe many have suffered as a result of pursuing “their calling” which is a cultural term not biblical. Our marriage was hemorrhaging and I was cheating on my wife with “the bride of Christ.” I was cheating on my wife with “the bride of Christ.” And that is
To truly serve God I have learned that foremost our marriage must be all that God has called and willed it to be. Marriage is an exact manifestation and representation of our relationship with Jesus. Submitted, serving, selfless, and sacrificial even unto death. I shared with our faith family in this past December the diagnosis of our marriage and that for the first time, our marriage would be first. I have learned that in order for something to be resurrected it must first die. And of this, I am speaking of self, or ministry, and of calling. We do not need to chase after, pursue, find our calling. It is not lost. Like Samuel, we must learn to listen, hear, and respond to the Fathers voice.
Currently, I am allowing God to heal, redeem, and restore. I am not chasing a calling, of trying to figure out how to start again. That is all up to Him, His plan, His will. What I do know is my relationship with Him, my wife, and my family are of most importance to Him before any ministry. I am submitted to a great covering Apostleship, surrounded myself with senior ministers that love me, my wife, my family, and Jesus. They are holding me accountable, encouraging me, and speaking into my life. I do know that whatever is dead, God will resurrect and it will be His will, His plan, His power, and His Holy Spirit in it.
Please keep us in your prayers as we passionately pursue God and His presence. We are excited
