Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him

We live in a fast-paced world, in a world of immediate gratification. We want everything taken care of “yesterday”. If it can’t be fixed right now, or doesn’t happen the way we want, when we want, we throw it to the side or we give up on it. Why? What has happened that everything has to be right now?

When farmers plant their crops, is there an immediate result? They have to wait months for the harvest. Not only do they have to wait for the harvest, but conditions have to be met. The ground has to be prepared. There needs to be rain, there needs to be sun, there needs to be fertilizer at certain times, there needs to be treatments for disease, there are steps that take place to produce the crop. Even planting at the right time is critical. There are many conditions, and at the end of the season, if the conditions are right, then the harvest is great and there is much fruit that comes forth.

The same goes for us in our relationship and walk with God. He is taking us through our process, the plan and path that He has for us. There are seeds that have been planted and there is a process for those seeds to take root and grow and then eventually produce a harvest. It may seem that others are getting exactly what they want, but we cannot turn off of our path and look at others, we must remain on our course that He has for us. Satan wants us distracted because it can keep us from our harvest.

Psalm 37:7 “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.”

v. 8 “ not fret, it only causes harm.”

v. 9 “…but those who wait on the Lord they shall inherit the earth.”

v. 11 “..but the meek shall inherit the earth, and delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Let me just say here that meekness is not timid, or weakness. It is actually the opposite. It shows great strength. Meekness is a gentleness, a peace that can outlast any circumstance. It is strength under control.

vs. 23-24 “The steps of a good man are ordered (established) by the Lord and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.”

God has that plan already laid out for us. Are we going to mess up? Yes. Don’t give up and say, “I can’t do this, I just keep messing up.” Get back on the course and continue the journey. He has already ordered/established your steps, just continue walking. He is going to let you slip, but He won’t let you fall. v. 31.. “none of his steps shall slide (slip).”

v. 34 “Wait on the Lord and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land.”

Stand, be patient, be strong, allow Him to lead you. Allow your seeds to grow. The harvest will come. Stay on the course.

Patience is the ability to tolerate trouble, delay, or suffering without getting angry. It isn’t about waiting, it’s about standing and enduring.

Rest in His peace today, let His strength hold you up.
